One of New Zealand’s lost treasures was the Willowbank Distillery, which was located in the city of Dunedin. While under the ownership of Seagram’s, the distillery produced a wonderful single malt whisky, Lammerlaw. Early in 1990 the distillery was sold to Fosters Brewing Company, which converted it to a brewery and has since been demolished.

The last casks of single malt whisky that were laid down at the distillery were all but forgotten by the previous owner, until recently when they were discovered after having slept for at least a decade undisturbed, overlooked and unknown.

Warren Preston, proprietor of Preston Associates of New Zealand, discovered these casks a short time ago. Under the watchful supervision of his master blender, many of thesecasks were married to produce Milford 10 Year Old Whisky. Produced in small batches, this limited edition whisky is now available in the United States. Milford New Zealand single malt whisky.

Milford, Single Malt Whisky is amongst the most rare and unique of all the world’s single malts. Milford was produced at the Willowbank Distillery, located in Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand. In 1993 the distillery was dismantled and the structure was finally demolished in 2002. Our stocks of Milford were “discovered” in 2001, silently ageing under pristine conditions. After careful examination the stocks were purchased and bottled for the discerning enjoyment of limited number of passionate single malt aficionados. Each label bears the date of distillation, date of bottling and batch number.

The color of this whisky is a deep gold with a rich amber hue. Its nose is complex with aromas of saddle leather, flowers, allspice, peat smoke and ginger. The taste is assertive and clean with flavors of apricot and vanilla followed by a flash of peat at mid-palate, then ending with honey and spice. Milford's finish is long, extremely smooth with a light smoky finish.
